All hail the Coconut King!
Searching through my emails, I realised I had been contacted by Shaun who is the owner of a business called the Coconut King, he was kindly asking whether I'd be interested in reviewing a couple of his products for my blog. I was amazed at how lovely (and edible) the products sounded, so it took me a while to decide on what to try out! I ended up going for the Sweet Orange Lip Balm and the Mocha Latte Body Butter.
All of Coconut King's products are handmade, free from chemicals and free from animal products. The range currently consists of moisturising balms, lip balms, body butters, gift sets, and even tattoo aftercare. Shaun also told me that he's working towards having his products approved by BUAV and The Vegan Society in the foreseeable future, I believe this is a great step to take for homemade businesses!
The Sweet Orange Lip Balm is a highly effective, luxury lip balm both totally natural and vegan. The fatty acids in coconut oil create a barrier and lock in moisture so that your lips remain free of cracks. Shea butter is loaded with natural vitamins, so it nourishes and moisturises your lips really well it also protects your lips from cold and dry weather, and reduces your chances of dry lips. Hemp seed oil is rich in emollients and is especially beneficial as a lip balm. Hemp lip balm is packed with omega fatty acids and linolic acid, these nutrients are key to cellular health. Jojoba oil can take the place of a petroleum jelly base. The waxy oil can form a barrier that effectively locks the moisture in and keeps the lips soft and supple. Orange essential oil is antiseptic and anti-inflammatory, it's been shown to increase the ability to absorb vitamin C, collagen production, and blood flow, all of which are essential for anti-ageing.
The Mocha Latte Body Butter is luxuriously thick and a deliciously different body butter, no water, no other filler ingredients and no dangerous chemicals. Just good natural oils and butters. A little goes a very long way! Coffee Arabica seed oil is extracted by cold pressing green coffee beans. It's high concentration of essential fatty acids, sterols, and vitamin E make it a potent antioxidant that can offer protection against skin damage such as sunburn cell formation and DNA degradation. Studies have shown impressive anti-ageing results due to Coffee Arabica’s ability to increase production of collagen and elastin and to protect against the loss of moisture. Cocoa butter makes an excellent skin moisturiser, plus it does more than just hydrate the skin, it helps actually heal it from the inside out too. It’s a great source of natural antioxidants.
Although the Mocha Latte Body Butter felt quite thick and heavy (compared to the body lotions I'm used to) when applying it to my skin, I found that it sunk in really quickly and I was left smelling like a wonderful mocha latte all day. I'm really quite fond of the scent of this body butter, it's a smell you can't stop yourself from smelling! I quite enjoyed the scent of the Sweet Orange Lip Balm as well. Although I did find the product to be a lot thinner in consistency compared to the body butter. I'm also not sure if it was just me, but I found the balm actually dried my lips up and I sadly didn't like how the product felt on my lips. Other than this I'm quite interested in trying out the many other scented body butters!
